How to Stay Available on Microsoft Teams While Working Remotely in 2025
Keep your laptop awake and active on Microsoft Teams —no more unwanted screen locks! 🔥

Hey everyone! If you’re working remotely—whether full-time or in a hybrid setup—you probably want to stay productive and make the most of your time. Sometimes, there’s little to do at work, but you still need to appear available or to stop your laptop screen locking. This works whether this is a work laptop or you are using a cloud desktop on your personal machine. This is for educational purposes.
To start, open Microsoft Teams and go to the Calendar section.
Click on “New Meeting” or "Meet Now" and schedule a meeting with yourself. Once the meeting starts mute your mic.
Your Status will display as a meeting. So make sure you click your profile icon and select the status “Available”.
Please Note: Depending on Policy it may keep switching back to you being in a meeting, you may need to reset your status and select “Available” again.
Depending on your company’s setup, this method helps keep your cloud session open and prevents it from closing due to inactivity or your work laptop locking. However, it can be hit or miss depending on your organization. Some businesses have stricter policies, so if this method doesn’t work, you’ll need to consider alternative options such as a Mouse Jiggler
